The Story of the Muthe Family: In the mid-1700s, Nashik was the spiritual heart of the Maratha Empire. This temple was built as a private “Dev-Ghar” (God’s House) by the Shrimant Muthe family, who were elite Sardars (commanders) under the Peshwas. It was constructed after the passing of Mr. Bhikaji Muthe, a revered Samnyāsi, in his honor.
