Sita Gufa Darshan Closure Extended Until April 15, 2026; Grand Entrance Gate Under Construction

The closure of Sita Gufa in Panchavati has been officially extended. While previous updates indicated the site would reopen on March 31, new on-site notices confirm that Darshan will now remain closed until April 15, 2026, due to the ongoing Ram Kal Path development works.

Key Updates from the Site:

Revised Timeline:

An official notice displayed at the entrance states that visitors (Darshan) are restricted from January 23, 2026, to April 15, 2026.

Infrastructure Progress:

Major construction is underway on the north side of the Sita Gufa premises, near the sacred Panchvati Ward (5 Banyan trees). The government is currently erecting a giant ornamental entrance gate as part of the heritage corridor project.

Sita Gufa Opening Soon

Ram Kal Path Works:

The area is seeing significant activity, with heavy machinery and laborers working on pathway enhancements and structural upgrades to handle the expected surge of pilgrims for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027.

Impact on Devotees

The temporary restriction includes entry to the cave itself. While the surrounding temple structures remain visible, the core Darshan area is strictly cordoned off for safety during the construction of the new entrance and the Ram Kal Path.

Devotees and tourists planning a visit to the Panchavati spiritual circuit are advised to account for this extension. The redevelopment is aimed at improving the overall experience, providing better accessibility, and preserving the sanctity of the site through modernized infrastructure.

Further updates will be posted as the work nears completion toward the mid-April reopening date.
