Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027 Traffic Plan: Entry Routes, Parking and Shuttle Bus System Announced

Nashik: Ahead of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027, the Nashik Police have released a preliminary traffic management master plan to handle the movement of nearly 8 crore devotees expected to visit the city during the festival.

The plan introduces a strict outer parking and shuttle transit system to prevent congestion inside the city. Private vehicles will be stopped at designated parking zones outside Nashik, while shuttle buses will transport pilgrims to inner holding points. From there, devotees will walk short distances to reach the holy bathing ghats along the Godavari River.

Mumbai Entry Route

Pilgrims traveling from Mumbai and the NH-3 corridor will park their vehicles at Rajur Bahula, the designated outer parking zone. Devotees will then board shuttle buses to travel approximately 10.3 km to Mahamarg Bus Stand, which will serve as the internal holding point. From there, pilgrims will walk around 1.4 km to reach Laxmi Narayan Ghat.

Pune Entry Route

Devotees arriving via the Pune highway and Samruddhi Expressway will park their vehicles at Mohagaon and Chincholi. Shuttle buses will transport them nearly 14.4 km to Sinnar Phata Market Yard. From this holding point, pilgrims will walk approximately 2.5 km to reach Dasak Ghat.

Trimbakeshwar Entry Route

Pilgrims coming from Trimbakeshwar will park their vehicles at Khambale. Shuttle buses will then travel around 13.5 km to Idgah Maidan, after which devotees will walk nearly 2.4 km to reach Rokdoba Maidan Ghat.

Peth Route

For pilgrims traveling from the Peth and Saputara region, outer parking will be available at Ramshej and the Cricket Stadium area. Shuttle buses will run approximately 11 km to Dongre Vasatigruh Maidan, followed by a 2.4 km walk to Gandhi Talav Ghat.

Dindori Route

Devotees entering Nashik from the Dindori route will park their vehicles at Dhakambe. Shuttle buses will transport pilgrims about 10.5 km to Meenatai Thackeray Stadium, after which they will walk around 2.9 km to reach Talkuteshwar Ghat.

Shuttle Services from Railway Stations

Authorities have also planned shuttle bus services from major railway stations including:

  • Nashik Road Railway Station
  • Deolali Camp Railway Station
  • Odha Railway Station
  • Kherwadi Railway Station
  • Kasbe Sukene Railway Station

Pilgrims arriving by train will be transported by shuttle buses to designated drop points and will walk the final 1 to 1.5 km to the ghats.

Infrastructure Development

The traffic management plan is supported by a major infrastructure push worth ₹2,100 crore, which includes the construction of 11 to 13 new bridges across the Godavari River to improve pedestrian movement and reduce traffic congestion during the Kumbh Mela.

Authorities have also announced strict restrictions on private vehicles near the Ramkund and core city areas to ensure safe movement of devotees during the festival.

The plan aims to provide a safe, organized and efficient transit system for millions of pilgrims visiting Nashik during the Simhastha Kumbh Mela.
